Difference Between Cashmere and Wool
Origin: Wool comes from sheep, while cashmere comes from goats.
Fiber Characteristics: Cashmere fibers have a smaller diameter than wool, making them more delicate, soft, and smooth. Their smaller scale structure also provides excellent thermal insulation.
Production: Cashmere production is much lower than wool production. Each goat produces only a few dozen grams of cashmere per year, while an average sheep can produce approximately 10–18 kg of wool annually.
Heat Retention: Cashmere can provide 4–8 times more warmth than wool, mainly due to its hollow fiber structure, which helps trap air and create an insulating layer.
Skin Comfort & Moisture Absorption: Cashmere is gentler against the skin and has excellent moisture absorption. Its hollow fibers make it lighter, softer, and warmer than wool.
Price: Cashmere is generally more expensive due to its limited production, premium quality, softness, and exceptional warmth.
